Our Core Values and Beliefs We believe in the statements outlined in the Baptist Faith & Message We believe that the Bible is the basis for life and practice. Committed to Salvation by GRACE Alone, through FAITH alone in CHRIST alone and for God's glory alone! Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Our Stategy Small Groups. We believe life change happens best in small groups. Small groups promote discipleship, accountability, and mutual support. Summerlin offers small group opportunities through Sunday school classes, home Bible studies and ministry team involvement. Unconditional Love. We believe loving relationships should permeate our church. Ministry best takes place in the context of meaningful relationships. Messages that are Biblical. We believe the Bible is our only truth source. We also believe Biblical teaching is the catalyst for transformation in people's lives and in Church. The objective in teaching is life change. Messages are expository and practical. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Tim 3:16 – 17) Members Who are Committed. Membership mean ministry. We believe wholehearted commitment to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer. Worship, Evangelism, Discipleship, Prayer, Fellowship Stewardship, Service, and the pursuit of God given goals is the standard. We are committed to integrating faith with life. We are committed to exalting the Lord Jesus Christ, exposing Las Vegas and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, encouraging one another and equipping believers to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ in our homes, church and community. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:42-47) Excellence is Our Standard. We believe excellence honors God and motivates people.Excellence in ministry demands constant strategizing, intention, evaluation, critical review and improvement. Reaching Out. We believe everyone matters to God whether they are people who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ or those who do not. The church has the responsibility to reach out and communicate the message of Christ. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. (Luke 10:27) Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age (Matt 28:19-20) Led by Purpose. We believe the church should be driven by the purposes described in the Great Commandment and Great Commission. The church measures its health and effectiveness by these purposes. Inspired Leadership. We believe everything rises or falls on leadership. Leaders are equipped and called by God and empowered to serve. Need for Relevancy. We believe the church should be culturally relevant while remaining faithful to biblical truth. We will communicate this relevance through our facility, printed materials and the use of arts.. Ultimate Questions…..What is the Purpose of Life? Life is full of questions. Some are trivial, some more serious and some tremendously important. The Bible teaches that men and women were created to be in a relationship with God. How can I know that God really exists? Romans 1:20-21 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, Does God have a plan for my life and if so how can I know it? Jeremiah 29:11-13 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. How can I be in a right relationship with God? Romans 3:20-23 20 For no one can ever be made right in God's sight by doing what his law commands. For the more we know God's law, the clearer it becomes that we aren't obeying it. 21 But now God has shown us a different way of being right in his sight-- not by obeying the law but by the way promised in the Scriptures long ago. 22 We are made right in God's sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done. 23 For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me-- that Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, as the Scriptures said. Acts 3:19 19 Now turn from your sins and turn to God, so you can be cleansed of your sins. Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. 2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory. Romans 10:8-11 8 Salvation that comes from trusting Christ-- which is the message we preach-- is already within easy reach. In fact, the Scriptures say, "The message is close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart." 9 For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who believes in him will not be disappointed. Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. Do Many Roads Lead to God? John 14:6 6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. |
