How should I dress?
We do not have a dress code at Summerlin Community Church. You will find a wide range of styles among the congregation. You will find some people dressed in business casual, some people wear shorts or jeans while some prefer to get a little more dressed up. For the most part, the people on the stage dress in what is often considered business casual.
What is the music like?
Our music focuses on exalting Christ and the Gospel. Our music style is a blend of contemporary praise and worship music and one or two classical hymns.
What is the preaching / teaching like?
The teaching ministries at Summerlin place a high emphasis on understanding and applying God’s word. Our pastor preaches through books of the Bible. He is currently preaching through the Book of Romans.
I have a baby or toddler, is there anything for my little one?
Yes. Summerlin offers two options for parents with babies and toddlers. Parents may keep their babies and toddlers with them in the service or they may enroll them in the nursery.
If you keep your baby in the service with you, we ask that you sit in a location where you can easily slip into another room should your baby become fussy.
If you enroll your child in the nursery we ask that you provide your cell phone number and put your phone on vibrate so that we may contact you during the service should the need arise. Our nursery is located near the sanctuary with a large window so you can easily peak in and see your children. During their time in the nursery they will have opportunities to hear a Bible story using the Big Picture Story Bible or Big Questions for Little Thinkers. Toddlers also get the opportunity to make a craft.
Is there anything for my elementary age children during the worship service?
Children participate in the singing portion of the worship service with their parents. During the sermon, parents have the option of keeping their children in the service for the sermon or sending their children to children’s church. Our children’s church ministry offers age appropriate Sunday school lessons using Generations of Grace Sunday school curriculum and studies God’s word chapter by chapter.
Are there opportunities for more in depth discipleship and Bible study?
Yes. On Sunday afternoon our pastor leads all ages in a foundations study that teaches the doctrines of the Christian faith. Our men meet monthly for breakfast and a Saturday morning Bible study on Leadership. Our women meet during the fall and spring for fellowship and Bible study. On Sunday mornings there is a Bible study through the book of James that meets at 10:00 am. Our children participate in AWANA where they memorize scripture at home and church and play games that teach Christian character.
Are there opportunities for me to get to know others?
As a church family, we place a high value on building relationships with each other and growing in God’s word together. To encourage opportunities to fellowship, Summerlin provides refreshments before and after each worship service. On the first Sunday of every month (except on holidays) the church hosts a cook out fellowship on the patio.
Other important ways to get to know others and build relationships at Summerlin is by participating in Bible studies, special events, and rolling up your sleeves to serve side by side with others in the body of Christ here at Summerlin Community Church.

Pastor’s Open House
Throughout the year, Pastor Dave hosts a pastor’s open house fellowship with either a meal or hors devours and dessert fellowship time depending on the number of participants. This is a time for newcomers to Summerlin to fellowship together with our Pastor and wife in an informal setting, to ask questions and get to know our pastor.
